"Visual Attack" is the name of the departmental call for urban art concerted by public and private entities of the city of Cali, organized by the Centro Cultural Comfandi with the support of the Centro Cultural Colombo Americano and the Alianza Francesa of Cali. The objective of this call is to select a certain number of creative artists to develop artistic pieces in public and private entities in the city.
As part of the "Visual Attack" call, the public art proposal "Afro-Fusion" was developed. This artistic piece represents the Afro stereotypes and musical genres of Colombian and American popular culture. The term "fusion", incorporated in the title of the work, exposes the cultural connections existing in the musical genres of the two countries. The color palette represents the musical richness that accompanies the Afro communities in these territories.
This public art process was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the following artists: Lieth Méndez, Sebastián Piedrahita Palacin, and Daniela Aristizábal.
